Dany Cardoen is a Belgian maker of telescopes and telescope mirrors and lenses. He constructed an observatory in Puimichel, France, for amateur astronomers, providing overnight accommodation. The facility included several telescopes, notably a 1060mm Newton telescope, one of the largest amateur telescopes globally. Visitors were required to be members of the Association Newton 406, named after one of the telescopes. Although the observatory fell into disrepair, it has since been restored and is operational again, attracting visitors from across Europe.
