Daniel Alan Keighran, born on June 18, 1983, is an Australian soldier renowned for receiving the Victoria Cross for Australia, the nation's highest military honor. He earned this prestigious decoration for his extraordinary bravery during the Battle of Derapet on August 24, 2010, amid the War in Afghanistan. Keighran was presented with the Victoria Cross by Governor-General Quentin Bryce in Canberra on November 1, 2012. Notably, he is the third recipient of this honor in Australia and the first from the Royal Australian Regiment.
