Dona Dalva Damiana de Freitas is a Brazilian composer and singer, born on September 27, 1927, in Cachoeira-BA. She is the leader of the Grupo de Samba de Roda Suerdieck and a member of the Irmandade da Boa Morte. Raised by her grandmother, she began working at 14 in local cigar factories, where she started composing and organizing samba groups. In 1961, she founded her samba group, which played a pivotal role in securing the recognition of the Samba de Roda do Recôncavo da Bahia as a National Intangible Heritage and later as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
