Dailza Damas Ribeiro (1957-2008) was a Brazilian long-distance swimmer known for her remarkable crossings, including the English Channel. She began swimming at age 28 to inspire her son, overcoming personal health challenges. Dailza crossed the English Channel in 1992, becoming the second Brazilian to do so. She completed various significant swims, including the Strait of Gibraltar and Lake Titicaca. Just a month before her death from cardiac arrest at 50, she had undergone brain surgery and was planning new adventures.
