Dag Kjartan Bjerketvedt (born July 19, 1953) served as rector at Telemark University College from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2007 until July 2011. He held the position of prorector at the same institution from 1997 to 2003. Bjerketvedt has an academic background with a cand.real. degree in biology (specializing in genetics) from the University of Oslo. He began his career there in 1989 at the Telemark District College's Department of Nature and Environmental Studies and was involved in the Norwegian Association of Researchers' central board from 2000 to 2003.
