He established a dedicated clinic for this condition and earned the nickname 'King of Sarcoid.' In 1958, he organized the first international conference focusing on sarcoidosis and played a significant role in founding the World Association of Sarcoidosis and other Granulomatous Disorders in 1987. James was also active in various medical societies, including the Medical Society of London and the Osler Club of London.
