Claes Fahlander is a Swedish physicist born on January 21, 1948, in Gothenburg. He graduated from Gävle in 1967 and obtained a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics from Uppsala University in 1972. Fahlander earned his Ph.D. in nuclear physics in 1977 and became a teacher in 1982. He worked at Australian National University and Uppsala University, later becoming a professor of Cosmic and Subatomic Physics at Lund University in 1996. His research focuses on atomic nuclei shapes and properties, and he was involved in verifying the discovery of element 115 in 2016.
