Claes Carbonnier was a Swedish diplomat and department head born on April 2, 1912, in Eksjö. He graduated in law in 1935 and began serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the same year. Throughout his career, he held various positions including consul in New York, secretary in London, and department head. He represented Sweden during the ratification of the UN Refugee Convention in 1954. Married to Astrid Broms in 1947, he died on July 15, 1961, and is buried at Kviinge cemetery.
