Christopher S. Bretherton is an American atmospheric scientist known for his expertise in clouds and climate. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences (2019) and holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from MIT (1984). Serving as a professor at the University of Washington since 1985, he began as an assistant professor, became an associate professor in 1989, and was promoted to a full professor in 1996. Bretherton is recognized with the Jule G. Charney Award (2012) and has authored numerous scientific articles, contributing significantly to atmospheric science.
