Chōkō Kuwae was a politician from Okinawa, Japan, born on February 3, 1918, and passed away on December 16, 1993. He served as the first chairman of the Municipal Land Special Committee, which is now known as the Okinawa Prefecture Landlord Association. Kuwae was also the mayor of Okinawa City from 1978 to 1990 and introduced the Eastern Beach Development Plan that included the reclamation project of Awase Wetlands in 1989. He is the father of Chōkō Kuwae, who became mayor of Okinawa City in 2014.
