Chien-Shiung Wu (May 31, 1912 - February 16, 1997) was a Chinese-American experimental physicist renowned for her significant contributions to the study of radioactive decay. She was involved in the Manhattan Project and aided in the gas diffusion process for separating uranium isotopes, specifically Uranium-235 and Uranium-238. Wu is best known for the Wu experiment, which produced results that contradicted the conservation of parity theory. Although she did not win the Nobel Prize for this work, it was awarded to her colleagues Tsung-Dao Lee and Chen-Ning Yang in 1957. She received the Wolf Prize in Physics in 1978.
