Chi Modu (c. 1967–2021) was a Nigerian-born American photographer acclaimed for his significant contributions to hip-hop photography. He captured iconic images of legendary artists such as Tupac Shakur, Eazy-E, and The Notorious B.I.G., largely defining the visual aesthetic of hip-hop's golden age in the 1990s through his work with The Source magazine. Although he spent much of his life in New Jersey, his impactful photography was predominantly taken in New York City. His desire for remembrance was to be seen as someone who revealed truths through their art.
