Cheng Ch'ing-wen (1932–2017) was a Taiwanese writer known for his contributions to literature, particularly in the nativist movement. A graduate of National Taiwan University, he worked for forty years at Hua Nan Bank while writing short stories, essays, and fairy tales. His notable works include 'Three-Legged Horse,' which won the Kiriyama Prize, and collections of fairy tales featuring speaking animals. Fluent in Taiwanese Hokkien, Cheng initially learned Chinese after receiving education in Japanese during his early years in Taiwan. He passed away at the age of 85.
