Chen Shang-Chih is a Taiwanese politician and political scholar born on October 23, 1968, in Kaohsiung. He was a member of the first seven-person decision-making committee during the 1990 Wild Lily student movement. He co-founded the Social Democratic Party in 2015 and served as the second convener. Currently, he holds the position of associate professor in the Department of Political Science at National Chung Cheng University and is the secretary-general of the Taiwan Higher Education Industry Union. He graduated from National Chung Hsing University and obtained his Ph.D. from Syracuse University.
