Sir Charles Haynes Wilson was a prominent Scottish political scientist and university administrator, born on May 16, 1909. He was pivotal in leading University College Leicester to university status in 1957, becoming the first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester. Later, in 1961, he served as Principal of the University of Glasgow. His influential role in higher education is commemorated through buildings named in his honour at both universities. Wilson passed away on November 1, 2002.
