Charles E. McGhee was an American jazz trumpeter and arranger born on October 10, 1942, in Laurel, Mississippi. He graduated with a music degree from Jackson State University and moved to New York in the late 1960s. McGhee toured Europe with various groups, including Archie Shepp and the Sam Wooding Orchestra, and performed in the Bahamas with his own ensemble. His 2002 album, 'Finally,' was released before his death on September 5, 2002.
