Charles John Burnett (1940–2024) was a Scottish antiquarian and former officer of arms, recognized for his contributions in heraldry. Educated at Gray's School of Art and the University of Edinburgh, he worked in various museums including the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland. Appointed Dingwall Pursuivant in 1983 and later Ross Herald, he held esteemed positions within the Heraldry Society of Scotland. His academic work culminated in a 1992 M.Litt thesis focusing on heraldic art during King James VI & I's reign. Burnett passed away in February 2024.
