He was drawn to spiritual practices from a young age, studying under notable scholars and living in remote locations for meditation. Chandraswami claimed to have acquired extraordinary powers, known as siddhis, through years of dedication. Originally a Jain by birth, he became a devotee of Goddess Kali and engaged actively in interfaith dialogue, serving on the Board of World Religious Leaders for the Elijah Interfaith Institute.
