Chae-wŏn Kim was a prominent South Korean archaeologist born on February 22, 1909, in Hamju, South Hamgyeong Province. He served as the first director of the National Museum of Korea. Known for his contributions to archaeology, he played a significant role in advancing the field in South Korea. His legacy includes his daughters, Kim Rina and Kim Yeongna, the latter having succeeded him as the director of the National Museum of Korea. Kim passed away on April 12, 1990.
