Carolyn Joyce Hunt, born on July 3, 1937, is an American educator and politician known for her roles as the Second Lady from 1973 to 1977 and as First Lady of North Carolina from 1977 to 1985 and again from 1993 to 2001. She is recognized as the longest-serving First Lady in the state's history, actively promoting volunteerism and international student exchanges during her tenure. Carolyn and her husband, Jim Hunt, were the first to serve two four-year terms. She also contributed to education through the Wilson County Public School Board.
