Captain Carlton Robert Rouh was a United States Marine born on May 11, 1919, and he passed away on December 8, 1977. He received the Medal of Honor for his bravery on September 15, 1944, on Peleliu Island, where he saved two fellow Marines by throwing himself on a grenade. Rouh was one of 27 Marines who protected others in this manner during World War II, with only four surviving. He also earned a Silver Star for his actions on October 9, 1942, during the Battle of Guadalcanal.
