Carlos Fuentes Macías was a Mexican novelist, sociologist, and diplomat, born on November 11, 1928, in Panama. He is considered one of the most important Latin American writers of the late 20th century, known for his novels and essays. Fuentes was nominated multiple times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. His notable works include 'Aura,' 'The Death of Artemio Cruz,' 'The Most Transparent Region,' and 'Nostra Aetate.' Among his many awards, he received the Rómulo Gallegos Prize and the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature in 1994. He died on May 15, 2012, at the age of 84.
