He played his entire career from 1962/63 to 1972/73 exclusively for Chivas Guadalajara. Nicknamed 'el Cuate' (the Twin), he had a twin brother, Ignacio Calderón, who was a popular goalkeeper for the team and represented Mexico in 60 international matches and two World Cups (1966 and 1970).
