Born on December 29, 1960, in Barranquilla, he became affiliated with the Brazilian Socialist Party in 1985. Amastha served as the mayor of Palmas, Tocantins, having been elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2016. He moved to Brazil at the age of 22, initially settling in Curitiba, where he met his wife. Amastha is involved in distance education and shopping centers and is a fan of Coritiba, Palmas, and Junior Barranquilla.
