His father was diplomat Ernst von Weizsäcker, and he had notable family members including Richard von Weizsäcker, who served as president of Germany, and physicist Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker. In later life, he focused on philosophy and ethics, receiving several awards before passing away on April 28, 2007, in Starnberg, Germany.
