Calvin Zippin, born on July 17, 1926, is a prominent cancer epidemiologist and biostatistician, currently serving as Professor Emeritus at UCSF's Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He is known for the Zippin Estimator in wildlife population studies and was a key investigator for the SEER program, addressing cancer issues in the United States. Zippin developed national and international training programs for cancer registrars and has conducted extensive cancer staging research. He was honored with a Lifetime Achievement and Leadership Award by the NCI in 2003.
