Burt Hochberg (1933 – May 13, 2006) was an expert in chess and other games and puzzles. He authored and edited numerous chess books, serving as the editor of Chess Life from December 1966 to October 1979 and also of GAMES magazine. Hochberg was the longest-serving editor in the history of Chess Life. He was a key editorial force behind RHM Publishing's chess project in the 1970s, producing high-quality titles that contributed to the surge in chess popularity following Bobby Fischer's 1972 World Championship win.
