He served as the 29th head of the Myoshin-ji Temple, the 642nd abbot of Myoshin-ji, and was the head priest of Kaisei-ji Temple. In addition, he held the position of president of the All Japan Buddhist Association. His Buddhist names included 'Bunshō Mukaku' and he had various room names such as 'Nanyinkutsu' and 'Dai-Kusatsu'.
