Robert 'Bud' Spangler was an American jazz drummer, broadcaster, and music producer, born on December 7, 1938, in Norwalk, Ohio. He moved to Lansing in the late 1950s to attend Michigan State University, where he played with Benny Poole and worked as a radio DJ. Spangler became actively involved in Detroit's jazz scene in the 1970s, producing and performing with various artists. He lived in Northern California during the 1990s, hosting a radio program and producing jazz music until his passing on January 16, 2014, due to lung cancer.
