Bram Cohen is an American computer programmer born in 1975, best known for creating the BitTorrent file sharing protocol. He grew up in New York City, where he learned BASIC and graduated high school in 1993 before attending the University at Buffalo, although he eventually left. Currently residing in San Francisco with his wife Gina and two children, Cohen continues to develop the BitTorrent software and has released multiple versions. He famously used adult content files to entice users to try the initial version of BitTorrent and purchased μTorrent, which became the foundation for BitTorrent.
