Božena Kuklová-Jíšová was a Czech writer, poet, and political prisoner under the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. Born on December 8, 1929, in České Budějovice, she was sentenced to ten years in prison in 1954 for alleged anti-state activities, serving her sentence in various correctional facilities, including Želiezovce. After six years, she was conditionally released in 1960 due to an amnesty. In 1968, she became a member of Klub 231 and published poems written during her imprisonment in émigré magazines, later compiled in her poetry collection 'Verše psané za mříží'.
