Bob Spear was an American naturalist, birdwatcher, and master woodcarver, born on February 21, 1920, and passed away on October 19, 2014. He was the founding director of the Birds of Vermont Museum (BOVM) and significantly influenced birding and environmental communities. Spear co-founded the first chapter of the National Audubon Society in Vermont and created over 470 biologically accurate bird carvings on display at the BOVM. He authored 'The Birds of Vermont' in 1969, published by the Green Mountain Audubon Society, and resided in Huntington, Vermont.
