Robert Challis was an English international rugby union player born on March 9, 1932, in Long Ashton, Somerset. He was educated at Bristol Cathedral School and started his career as a centre for the England Schoolboys before transitioning to fullback. Challis played for Bristol during the 1952–53 season and represented Western Counties against the All Blacks in 1953. In 1957, he was part of the England team that won the Grand Slam in the Five Nations, scoring 10 points after stepping in for an injured teammate.
