Birgitte Tufte (March 31, 1939 – July 13, 2013) was a Danish professor and author known for her contributions to education, particularly for her cultural-historical approach that emphasized integrating students' everyday lives into schooling. She developed the widely used Zigzag model for media education in schools. In recognition of her work, she was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Dannebrog on October 12, 2009. Tufte is buried at Agunnaryd Church in Småland, Sweden.
