Birgitte Stampe is a former Danish police chief who served as the head of the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) from 1993 to 2002. She was educated at the University of Copenhagen, obtaining a law degree in 1972. Her early career included roles in various police functions, advancing from roles such as fullmægtig to deputy police chief. Notably, she was in charge of PET during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. After her tenure at PET, she became police chief in Lyngby and later in Hillerød.
