Birgit B. Wiig was a notable Norwegian newspaper editor and politician. Born on April 7, 1928, in Askim, she served as the editor of Øvre Smaalenene from 1957 to 1985 and again from 1990 to 1993. Wiig made history as the only female member of the Association of Norwegian Editors for 25 years. Additionally, she chaired the Norwegian National Women's Council from 1968 to 1973 and served as a deputy representative at the Storting from Østfold from 1973 to 1977. She passed away on May 29, 1998.
