Birger Jåstad (October 7, 1904 – 1984) was a Norwegian lyricist, playwright, and author from Leirfjord. He was the son of author Lars Jaastad. Jåstad worked as a teacher and held various leadership roles in his community, including mayor and conductor of choirs. His literary debut was the play 'Viking fredlaus' in 1941. He published several books and contributed to anthologies, writing primarily in Nynorsk. He was also an active member of the Nordnorsk Forfatterlag and frequently served as a radio commentator for NRK.
