William Frederick James Skeat, known as Bill Skeat, was a British clarinetist and saxophonist born on July 25, 1926, in London. He began playing clarinet in his youth, inspired by Benny Goodman, but his career was interrupted by WWII. After serving as a nurse, he returned to music and played with various bands, including the London Palladium Orchestra. He worked as a studio musician for notable artists like Bing Crosby and Tony Bennett. Despite a decline in the 1970s, he remained active until his death from a heart attack on July 4, 1999.
