Alfred Edward 'Bill' Luders, Jr. (1909-1999) was an influential American naval architect known for designing nearly all Sea Sprite Sailing Yachts. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, he began an apprenticeship in naval architecture and later led the family-owned Luders Marine Construction Company. He was pivotal in the 1946 establishment of the International One Design class of yachts. Notably, he built Weatherly, a 12-meter yacht that defended the America's Cup in 1962 against Australia’s Gretel. Luders contributed significantly to yacht design and competition during his career.
