Betsy Yakovlevna Shidfar (née Shuster) was a prominent Soviet and Russian philologist, specializing in Arabic studies and translation. Born on February 27, 1928, in Zmiyev, she became one of the leading experts in the Arabic language and literature. She was also known for her translation of the Quran. Shidfar passed away on May 29, 1993, in Moscow.
