Gustav Bertil Åberg was a Swedish physician and professor born on October 12, 1925, in Stockholm, and he passed away on May 9, 1992, in Rö. He completed his doctorate in 1952 at the Karolinska Institute and became the research chief at AB Kabi in 1969. Åberg was instrumental in developing the synthetic human growth hormone Genotropin, which was launched in 1987 through a partnership with Genentech. He co-founded Skandigen AB in 1983 and was elected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences in 1971 and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1983.
