Albertus 'Bert' Van Kerkhoven was a Flemish journalist, radio pioneer, and theater director born on March 4, 1906, in Antwerp. He worked extensively in journalism while also actively participating in the evolution of Flemish theater. His career included significant roles at the National Institute for Radio Broadcasting and the Royal Dutch Theater, where he promoted new plays and modernized productions. He was involved in the resistance during WWII and held a political role in Antwerp. Van Kerkhoven was married twice and had a notable influence on Belgian theater until his death on March 13, 1984.
