James Bertram 'Bert' Parnaby (1924-1992) was a British actor known for versatile roles in television and film from the 1960s to the 1980s. His notable TV performances included series like Blackadder, Inspector Morse, and Last of the Summer Wine. He played Father Christmas in a 1988 BBC adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. In addition to acting, Bert served as a schoolmaster at Manchester Grammar School and later as an HMI. He also produced and performed for the BBC, known for his comedic breakfast radio monologues.
