Benjamiņš Jēgers was a Latvian American letonist and bibliographer, born on January 16, 1915, and passed away on May 5, 2005. He served as a professor at Northern Illinois University from 1968 to 1985. His work primarily focused on the meanings and etymology of Latvian words and the study of Latvian literature. Jēgers is regarded as one of the most prominent Latvian scholars of the 20th century.
