Benito Coquet Lagunes was a Mexican politician born on August 26, 1915, in Jalapa, Veracruz. A member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), he served as the President of the Chamber of Deputies from 1945 to 1946, the Mexican Ambassador to Cuba from 1947 to 1953, and as the General Director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) from 1958 to 1964. He passed away on July 25, 1993, in Mexico City.
