Bengt Olof Björklund, born August 15, 1949, in Stockholm, is a Swedish artist and poet. He studied at Bolton College of Art in the UK from 1974 to 1975. In 1968, he moved to Istanbul, where he was arrested and sentenced for drug offenses, which resulted in a lengthy prison sentence. His experiences in the Turkish prison inspired the character Erich in the film Midnight Express. Björklund also shares his story in Bahador Shahidi's documentary My Moon (2017).
