Ben-Erik van Wyk is a South African botanist and professor of botany at the University of Johannesburg. He is recognized as an expert in medicinal plants and has authored several international books. He graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a B.Sc in forestry and conservation, later earning an M.Sc in botany and a Ph.D. from the University of Cape Town in 1989. He has been a lecturer at the University of Johannesburg since 1984. He has received several awards, including the Havenga Prize in 2006 and the M.T. Steyn Medal in 2020.
