He is best known for his collection of connected stories titled 'Nothing Very Important and Other Stories,' focusing on missionary work in the LDS Church. A convert to the LDS faith inspired by a film about Brigham Young, he served a mission in California. Petsco attended Brigham Young University for his degrees and taught there as an adjunct professor until 1983, after which he faced health issues and ceased fiction writing.
