Behnaz Akhgar is an Iranian-born weather presenter for BBC Cymru, known for her work on BBC Wales Today. Born in Shiraz on June 21, 1980, she moved to Swansea at age 10. Initially a model, she left that career after being pressured to lose weight. Akhgar holds a degree in communication studies from the University of Glamorgan and a postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism from Cardiff University. She entered the television industry in 2001 and began presenting the weather in 2008 after training with the Met Office.
