Bagepalli Ramachandrachar Seshachar was a prominent Indian zoologist known for his contributions to cytogenetics, reproductive biology, and the natural history of Indian caecilians. He served as the President of the Indian National Science Academy from 1971 to 1972. Starting his academic career at the University of Mysore in 1926, he became a tenured professor until his retirement in 1960. He later headed the Zoology department at Delhi University until 1971. Two species, Raorchestes charius and Gegeneophis seshachari, were named in his honor.
